This book, which tells the story of an ecosystem approach to the rehabilitation of the lower delta of the Senegal River in Mauritania, in and around Diawling National Park, is a companion volume to that guide. Its main objective is to provide practitioners with a “feel” for what the approach can entail in the real-life setting of a remote corner of the Sahel, where people’s livelihoods are inextricably tied to the productivity of their delta.
